The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Narciso Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. After 12th play minutes Narciso Dias shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Roberto Batista and just under the crossbar into goal. Roberto Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute, Nico Soeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roberto Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Narciso Dias in the 17th minute of play. Vila Nova F.C's Roberto Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Moreno in the 19th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Narciso Dias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roberto Batista was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Roberto Batista came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Mayhem Sharks's Osvaldo da Mata. But to his dismay, Osvaldo da Mata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. A throw-in in the 26th minute of the game was made by Nico Soeiro with Lauro Pereira as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. If Osvaldo da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Narciso Dias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roberto Batista was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. In the 31st minute of the match Mayhem Sharks got a corner. Vila Nova F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ian Moraes ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 40 minutes into the match, Narciso Dias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Batista. Vila Nova F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Narciso Dias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Narciso Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. If Osvaldo da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cruz Gene to make the kick off. Narciso Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Roberto Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The penalty shot was made by Ian Moraes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vila Nova F.C's Roberto Batista. 0-7. Vila Nova F.C's Roberto Batista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Vila Nova F.C from getting a goal against them. Rodolfo Hunfredo might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roberto Batista. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodolfo Hunfredo ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova F.C's Roberto de Medeiros got a free kick in the 81st minute. Rodolfo Hunfredo struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Roberto Batista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mayhem Sharks. The Mayhem Sharks fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Mayhem Sharks's Rodolfo Hunfredo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-9 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Mayhem Sharks booed when Vila Nova F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto de Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodolfo Hunfredo in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto Batista prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luís Fabiano de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Roberto Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mayhem Sharks's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
