Leopoldo Faria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lauro Pereira hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 12th match minute, Vila Nova F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto de Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. Caio Donatello didn't quite understand what happened when in the 14 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. 16 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Faria cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Roberto Batista was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 19th play minutes Leopoldo Faria shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Roberto Batista and just under the crossbar into goal. Roberto Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Faria in the 22nd minute of play. Roberto Batista came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria. But to his dismay, Leopoldo Faria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Cruz Gene fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Brasil having to interfere. Roberto Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vila Nova F.C's goalie prevented a goal. In the 33rd minute, Leopoldo Faria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roberto Batista was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leopoldo Faria in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto Batista prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Roberto Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 47th minute of the match Egídio Custódio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roberto Batista showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 50th match minute, Sambaitiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Faria to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Vila Nova F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Faria came free, but Roberto Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leopoldo Farias short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Roberto Batista to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova F.C's Roberto de Medeiros got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Cruz Gene blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodolfo Brasil having to make a save. With his leg Roberto Batista managed to avoid a goal in the 69thth minute, when Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 71 minutes, Roberto de Medeiros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vila Nova F.C and the Sambaitiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Vila Nova F.C getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Roberto de Medeiros hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Roberto de Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the match, Vila Nova F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Caio Donatello came free, but Roberto Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Leopoldo Faria had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Batista. Vila Nova F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leopoldo Faria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Sílvio Luís Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Roberto Batista stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Faria's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Faria in the 92nd minute of play forced Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Leopoldo Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute, Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Roberto Batista. Roberto Batista yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Sambaitiba played a much better game than Vila Nova F.C and deserved their victory. The Vila Nova F.C players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
