After a rather tough play, Riconada EC's Edson dos Santos got a free kick in the 9th minute. In the 12th minute Jarbas Vieira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdomiro Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredinho Saraiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dráusio Pernambucano in the 18th minute of the match. With 19 minutes on the clock, Jean Campidelis commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 18th minute, one of Riconada EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Riconada EC. In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Santiago FC. Dráusio Pernambucano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alfredinho Saraiva. 0-3. Valdomiro Seco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Vianna in the 24th minute of the match. The supporters of Riconada EC booed when Santiago FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Adolfo da Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Luiz Fabiano Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santiago FC's Valdomiro Seco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fabiano Abreu in the 32nd minute of play. Alfredinho Saraiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredinho Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldão Marinho during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edu Ortiz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riconada EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jarbas Vieira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Seco having to interfere. When Jarbas Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Riconada EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarbas Vieira couldn't finish the play. Jarbas Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Dráusio Pernambucano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santiago FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dráusio Pernambucano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredinho Saraiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jarbas Vieira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdomiro Seco having to make a save. Jarbas Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Alfredinho Saraiva came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Santiago FC's Cauan Donato. But to his dismay, Cauan Donato quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4.
