Alfredão Tande took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabrício Baptista. Fabrício Baptista dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Fabrício Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldão Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 26 minutes, Nelson Meira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arapa and the Santiago FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Alfredão Tande's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabrício Baptista was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Fabrício Baptista came out and tried to block the shot, but Dráusio Pernambucano slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 95th minute. Santiago FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
