Valdomiro Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fabiano Abreu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Riconada EC defense, André Luiz Cavalcante kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alfredinho Saraiva. The Riconada EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alfredinho Saraiva should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Dráusio Pernambucano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santiago FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dráusio Pernambucano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredinho Saraiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
