Luiz Fábio Dionísio kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Wanderson Pena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When José Maria Mota came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Santanna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Maria Mota couldn't finish the play. Sydney Donatello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mário Schmidt in the 12th minute of the match. Sydney Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. José Maria Mota took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sydney Donatello. Sydney Donatello dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Schmidt in the 28th minute of play forced Itapua AD's goalkeeper Sydney Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Mário Schmidt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sydney Donatello was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Wanderson Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Hélio Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Wanderson Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Santanna's Luiz Fábio Dionísio got a free kick in the 36th minute. Eriberto Campidelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélio Leão having to interfere. A collision led to Santanna getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Cláudio Schmidt hit a great ball. Wanderson Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Eriberto Campidelis scored 1-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélio Leão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wanderson Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélio Leão having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Wanderson Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itapua AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Wanderson Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélio Leão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Itapua AD's Igor Cerezo got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sydney Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Hélio Leão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wanderson Pena's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Schmidt in the 76th minute of play forced Itapua AD's goalkeeper Sydney Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Maria Mota hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. 80 minutes into the game, José Maria Mota was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santanna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itapua AD the free kick. José Maria Mota kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Luís Carioca's late challenge caught a Santanna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Carioca helped the player get up and apologised. Luís Carioca hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Itapua AD's Sydney Donatello got control of the ball when Isaltino Botelho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hélio Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Mendes in the 86th minute of play. Olavo Lopez kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Luís Carioca took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hélio Leão. Hélio Leão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Sydney Donatello made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isaltino Botelho in the 97th minute. Itapua AD were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
