The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Cruzeiro esporte clube booed when Barborema was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvério Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute Ismael Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Valadares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Barborema's zone, Lino Félix stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ander Lokko came out of the goal and Lino Félix tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro esporte clube's Carlos Augusto das Neves got a free kick in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandrinho Zanette in the 36th minute of play forced Cruzeiro esporte clube's goalkeeper Francisco Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Magno Perez kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Sandrinho Zanette recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Afonso Quintal kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Ander Lokko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Magno Perez in the 41st minute. 45 minutes into the match, Barborema's goalkeeper Ander Lokko had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Magno Perez. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ismael Gaspar was the one to do the kick off. When Sandrinho Zanette came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Barborema fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandrinho Zanette couldn't finish the play. In the 54th minute, Inácio Branco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ander Lokko was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After 59 minutes of play, Cruzeiro esporte clube's Inácio Branco made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ander Lokko was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ander Lokko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Félix, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 64 played minutes Cruzeiro esporte clube got a freekick which was hit by Naldo das Neves. Ander Lokko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 77 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro esporte clube's Narciso Lucas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ander Lokko made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Ander Lokko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Narciso Lucas's shot from short distance in the 85th minute.
