With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mauro Zanette in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Augusto Esteves saved Grêmio Imortal from getting behind. The supporters of Grêmio Imortal booed when Kings of Leon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mauro Zanette scored 2-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Augusto Esteves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After 57 played minutes Kings of Leon got a freekick which was hit by Rony de Amaral. Wigalf Borkowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basílio Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramiro Pitta took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wigalf Borkowski. Wigalf Borkowski dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Carlos Augusto Esteves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juvenal Torres in the 69th minute. The Kings of Leon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wigalf Borkowski should have stopped the shot.
