After a defensive mix-up in Caras's zone, Manuel Dias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elói Terra came out of the goal and Manuel Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd match minute, Caras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Gustavo Reis to maneuver through the defense. Caras's Elói Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Dias in the 25th minute of play. In the 30th minute Manuel Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Terra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Leonel Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elói Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gino de Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Isaltino Montenegro charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isaltino Montenegro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 39 played minutes Caras got a freekick which was hit by Isaltino Montenegro. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Amaral made a kick off. Elói Terra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonel Moreira in the 51st minute of the match. Elói Terra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Maciel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elói Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeu Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. A collision led to Vasco da Gama Clube getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Leonel Moreira hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Manuel Dias made a precise shot to the right of Elói Terra. Fiori Rocha, 92 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 95th minute Amadeu Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Terra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
