The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hugo Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fabiano França in the 9th minute of play. Luiz Fabiano França might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Fonseca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Fabiano França ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the game, Guaramirim-FSCMZ's Juvenal Porto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hugo Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience was convinced that Rafael Cerezo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Basílio Nogueira was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. In the 35th minute, Rafael Cerezo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Juvenal Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guaramirim-FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Juvenal Porto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hugo Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova Prudy's Joel Miranda got a free kick in the 37th minute. Hugo Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osman Ali Nurettin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guaramirim-FSCMZ's Basílio Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Cerezo in the 53rd minute of play. Rafael Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Basílio Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basílio Nogueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Cerezo's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Basílio Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Romero in the 62nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Guaramirim-FSCMZ's zone, Rafael Cerezo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Nogueira came out of the goal and Rafael Cerezo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Cerezo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Nogueira having to interfere.
