Doriva Quadros came out of the goal and Edmundo Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 19 minutes into the game, Junior Gamarra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carolinense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Retrô Recife AD the free kick. When Edmundo Dias came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Carolinense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Dias couldn't finish the play. 崔榕树 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélder Bastos in the 32nd minute of the match. Carolinense FC's 崔榕树 proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Carolinense FC from getting a goal against them. After having played for 35 minutes, Edmundo Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carolinense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundo Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Edmundo Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carolinense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doriva Quadros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 43rdth minute of the game Edmundo Dias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Retrô Recife AD's Doriva Quadros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carolinense FC's Leopoldo Saldanha got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Adelino Paraense kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving 崔榕树. That made the score 2-0 in the 47 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bebeto Pinho to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Fausto Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Retrô Recife AD and the Carolinense FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Carolinense FC booed when Retrô Recife AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Doriva Quadros managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Carolinense FC's Edmundo Dias fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Edmundo Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carolinense FC's 崔榕树 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélder Bastos in the 66th minute of play. But to his dismay, Adelino Paraense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Junior Gamarra hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute of the match Gil Albuquerque sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but 崔榕树 skillfully saved the ball. Oscar Tono sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélder Bastos hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. 92 minutes into the match, Retrô Recife AD's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Tono came free, but Doriva Quadros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doriva Quadros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Tono, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Edson Custódio took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Doriva Quadros to make any attempt to save it. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Retrô Recife AD were victorious despite being under pressure from Carolinense FC for much of the match.
