When Zé Roberto Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Macario's protests and gave Zé Roberto Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Macaé Esporte FC booed when Macario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Roberto Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Vítor Arce showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualter Paiva in the 19th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Benjamim Linares sped through Macaé Esporte FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ricardo Mandrak. Ricardo Mandrak came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Macario's Fabinho Messias. But to his dismay, Fabinho Messias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Cido Terra came free with the goalkeeper in the 45th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and José Vítor Arce could save by the left post. Macaé Esporte FC's Cido Terra came free and shot a quick shot against goal 46 minutes in the game, fortunately José Vítor Arce had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Macaé Esporte FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ricardinho Torres in the 48th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gualter Paiva made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Macaé Esporte FC's zone, Fabinho Messias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Mandrak came out of the goal and Fabinho Messias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 56 minutes into the match, Macario's goal looked a bit too open when Dito Salles came free, but José Vítor Arce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Macario's Zé Roberto Capixaba got a free kick in the 57th minute. With his leg Ricardo Mandrak managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Macario's Fabinho Messias fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gualter Paiva charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gualter Paiva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Macaé Esporte FC's Ricardo Mandrak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Macaé Esporte FC from getting a goal against them. Enéas Souto kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Benjamim Linares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Macario's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamim Linares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Mandrak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87thth minute of the game Fabinho Messias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macaé Esporte FC's Ricardo Mandrak was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabinho Messias in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Mandrak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 96 played minutes Macario got a freekick which was hit by Marcelo Velasco. In the 97th minute, Gualter Paiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Macaé Esporte FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Macario were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
