Agostinho Munhozs short, quick shot in the 10thth minute got Fernandão Vergílio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Creciuna AD's zone, Erasmo Furlan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernandão Vergílio came out of the goal and Erasmo Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fernandão Vergílio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agostinho Munhoz in the 21st minute. Shannon Barnard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnaldo Ortiz in the 26th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Ortiz notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's Shannon Barnard. Shannon Barnard was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marcel Dionísio hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. 35 minutes into the match, Creciuna AD's goalkeeper Fernandão Vergílio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agostinho Munhoz. In the 36th minute Arnaldo Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shannon Barnard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Ortiz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Shannon Barnard. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arnaldo Ortiz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After the first half Creciuna AD were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute Creciuna AD were awarded a corner. Dráusio Paranaense went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Marcel Dionísio heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Ortiz in the 59th minute of play forced CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's goalkeeper Shannon Barnard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernandão Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erasmo Furlan in the 60th minute of play. Francisco Urbano kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Agostinho Munhoz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandão Vergílio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Ortiz couldn't finish the play. Shannon Barnard made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Augusto Leal in the 87th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Agostinho Munhoz managed to get in a good position for a shot. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's supporters rose to their feet, but Agostinho Munhoz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
