An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Munhoz in the 12th minute of play forced CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's goalkeeper Shannon Barnard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 14 minutes, Agostinho Munhoz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agostinho Munhoz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Válter Secco came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's Agostinho Munhoz. But to his dismay, Agostinho Munhoz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 32 minutes into the match, Erasmo Furlan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Válter Secco. Hero Saints Fc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo Furlan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ronaldo Alagoano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Erasmo Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válter Secco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agostinho Munhoz, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The supporters of CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE booed when Hero Saints Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Enéas Furtado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Enéas Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hero Saints Fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Enéas Furtado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Shannon Barnard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd match minute, CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonsinho Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. Válter Secco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agostinho Munhoz in the 84th minute.
