With his leg Ernesto Rossi managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Creciuna AD's Pedro Augusto Leal fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Fluminense FC's Chico Oliveira got a free kick in the 4th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense FC's zone, Pedro Augusto Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Rossi came out of the goal and Pedro Augusto Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valdomiro Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Fernandão Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ernesto Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Augusto Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Rossi having to interfere. Fluminense FC's Ernesto Rossi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Fluminense FC from getting a goal against them. In the 20th minute Arnaldo Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Rossi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Creciuna AD's Pedro Augusto Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Arnaldo Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernesto Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Ortiz in the 30th minute of play. Edmundo Valladares hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. If Arnaldo Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Fluminense FC's Edmundo Valladares got a free kick in the 38th minute. Ernesto Rossi acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 39th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dráusio Paranaense. Pedro Augusto Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ernesto Rossi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th match minute, Creciuna AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcel Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Arnaldo Ortiz made the kick off in the second half. Ernesto Rossi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Augusto Leal in the 53rd minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Fluminense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto Leal came free, but Ernesto Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Valdomiro Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fluminense FC's Ernesto Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Ortiz in the 65th minute of play. Pedro Augusto Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Rossi having to interfere. After 69 minutes of play, Creciuna AD's Arnaldo Ortiz made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernesto Rossi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edmundo Valladares's late challenge caught a Creciuna AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edmundo Valladares helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fluminense FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Edmundo Valladares hit a great ball. In the 79th minute, Dráusio Paranaense sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Fluminense FC's Ernesto Rossi didn't even have to move. After some careless play in the Fluminense FC defense, Francisco Urbano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Rossi. The Fluminense FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Rossi should have stopped the shot. Ernesto Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. When Pedro Augusto Leal came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Creciuna AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Augusto Leal couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Creciuna AD booed when Fluminense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Creciuna AD had played much better football throughout.
