Elder Moreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perivaldo Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 27 minutes, Marcelinho Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leão 1918's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho Toscano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Perivaldo Guimarães's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elder Moreira was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. 31 minutes into the match, Marcelinho Toscano notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Taborda FC's Elder Moreira. Elder Moreira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís de Moraes was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Wilian Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taborda FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilian Oliveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernandinho Barbosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 53rd match minute, Taborda FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Zonta to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Taborda FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Claudinei Lopez hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís de Moraes in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fernandinho Barbosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Elder Moreira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Perivaldo Guimarães's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. After 66 played minutes Leão 1918 got a freekick which was hit by Wilton Moreno. Elder Moreira was a little too slow when Geovani Pires got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 81st minute. The score was now 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Taborda FC's zone, Perivaldo Guimarães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elder Moreira came out of the goal and Perivaldo Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
