The audience was convinced that Murilo Severo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leandro Queirós was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. When Faustão Cardozo fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guabiraba SC's protests and gave Faustão Cardozo a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aloísio Linares during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Aloísio Linares hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Hermes during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute, Júlio Hermes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tião Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leandro Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Severo in the 19th minute of the match. Leandro Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Murilo Severo's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Aloísio Linares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Penha Athletico Club getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Belmiro Veiga hit a great ball. In the 30th minute, Carlos Fernando Tróia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leandro Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 33 minutes, Mazinho Mangueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guabiraba SC and the Penha Athletico Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Penha Athletico Club's Breno Marinho got a free kick in the 34th minute. Abelardo Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Pirani having to interfere. Leandro Queirós made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Tião Valle sent off a good shot on target. Carlos Fernando Tróia took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leandro Queirós. Leandro Queirós dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aloísio Linares to make the kick off. If Carlos Fernando Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Júlio Hermes got his second yellow card in the match during the 54th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Penha Athletico Club booed when Guabiraba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Fernando Tróia scored 3-0 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leandro Queirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Adalberto Trancoso thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Leandro Queirós, a very annoying self made goal in the 65th minute which led to 4-0. If Belmiro Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leandro Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Severo in the 71st minute of the match. Murilo Severo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Guabiraba SC defense, Carlos Fernando Tróia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leandro Queirós. The Guabiraba SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leandro Queirós should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murilo Severo in the 81st minute of play forced Guabiraba SC's goalkeeper Leandro Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Murilo Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Murilo Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Leandro Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Penha Athletico Club's Murilo Severo in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Guabiraba SC's goalie prevented a goal. Carlos Fernando Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Leandro Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Carlos Fernando Tróia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leandro Queirós. Guabiraba SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Fernando Tróia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Penha Athletico Club's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
