Canhoba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maxguaruja the free kick. A collision led to Canhoba getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Gilberto Severo put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Luiz Guilherme Cearense. In the 14th minute of the match Otávio Borges sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luiz Guilherme Cearense skillfully saved the ball. Luiz Guilherme Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Braga, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Canhoba's Bernardinho Guerra got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Canhoba's Luiz Guilherme Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto Severo in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute Gilberto Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Guilherme Cearense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Guilherme Cearense came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Maxguaruja's Gilberto Severo. But to his dismay, Gilberto Severo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Gilberto Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

When Gilberto Severo came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Maxguaruja fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Severo couldn't finish the play. Gilberto Severo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Luiz Guilherme Cearense when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 68 minutes, Luiz Guilherme Batista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canhoba and the Maxguaruja players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 69th minute, Luiz Guilherme Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maxguaruja's Matías Loureiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belmiro Rosa in the 72nd minute of play. Ismael Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Luiz Guilherme Cearense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Canhoba's Belmiro Rosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matías Loureiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. 78 minutes into the match, Maxguaruja's goal looked a bit too open when Dedê Medeiros came free, but Matías Loureiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Ismael Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maxguaruja's supporters rose to their feet, but Ismael Braga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Guilherme Cearense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ismael Bragas short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Luiz Guilherme Cearense to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ismael Braga in the 85thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Luiz Guilherme Cearense, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Maxguaruja getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ismael Braga hit a great ball. Gilberto Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Cearense having to interfere. 91 minutes into the match, Gilberto Severo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Guilherme Cearense. Canhoba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilberto Severo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7.
