In the 8thth minute of the game Fabiano Pereira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Freixeira FC's Remo Messias was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 11th minute, Pedro Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Freixeira FC's Adilson Porto was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 13th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Remo Messias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Félix, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Leme got free with Beto Vides in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 46 minutes, Alexandre Magalhães mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Freixeira FC and the Gruna players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Freixeira FC got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Magalhães. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Cristian Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gruna's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Félix was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remo Messias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fabiano Pereira to make the kick off. The supporters of Freixeira FC booed when Gruna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remo Messias was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Fabiano Pereira capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fabiano Pereira really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Freixeira FC's Pedro Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cafu Koehler kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Cristian Félix could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Remo Messias made a huge save. Remo Messias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Pereira in the 76th minute of the match. With his leg Remo Messias managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Gruna's Cristian Félix fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Pereira in the 80th minute of play forced Freixeira FC's goalkeeper Remo Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute, Túlio Teles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
