Romário Meira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Goiânia FC's zone, Dorian Pontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the match, Goiânia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Pontes came free, but Romário Meira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Lira scored 1-3 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Romário Meira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Mané Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Téo da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vitinho Garcia during the 45th minute. Romário Meira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

54 minutes into the game, Dorian Pontes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Romário Meira. Dorian Pontes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. Valdo Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Romário Meira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorian Pontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Romário Meira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorian Pontes in the 72nd minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, Goiânia FC's goalkeeper Romário Meira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Téo da Silveira. After 75 minutes, Délio Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vasco Lima and the Goiânia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Romário Meira was a little too slow when Dorian Pontes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 1-7. In the 93rd minute, Dorian Pontes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Romário Meira, passed just outside the right post. Romário Meira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorian Pontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mané Mangueira struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Tiago Mineiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goiânia FC. When the match was over Vasco Lima could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Goiânia FC throughout the match.
