Abstergo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernani Ribeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Abstergo's Eduardo Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho Tróia in the 20th minute of play. Vicente Loureiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Ciro Mandrak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ciro Mandrak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Pedro Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ernani Ribeiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eduardo Toledo having to make a save. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dráusio Bezerra was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 32 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Golden Boys fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Luiz Fernando Gaúcho shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Fernandinho Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. The supporters of Abstergo booed when Golden Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Carlos Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Luiz Fernando Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abstergo's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fernando Gaúcho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciro Mandrak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
