An unexpectedly hard shot by Clemente Silveira in the 22nd minute of play forced Betania's goalkeeper Baltazar Nóbrega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Pedro Luís Toscano got free in front of the goal in the 25th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Baltazar Nóbrega was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 29 played minutes Betania got a freekick which was hit by Elano Peres. Clube de Regatas do Flame's Jaime dos Santos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Clube de Regatas do Flame from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cássio Freitas during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Clube de Regatas do Flame booed when Betania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 37 minutes, Elano Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baltazar Nóbrega made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. After the first half Clube de Regatas do Flame were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roberto Saraiva to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Betania's Roberto Saraiva got a free kick in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roger Bastos got free with Baltazar Nóbrega in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 63 played minutes Betania got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Freitas. Cássio Freitas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Elano Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Betania's supporters rose to their feet, but Elano Peres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jaime dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio Freitas in the 82nd minute of play. Cássio Freitas kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Baltazar Nóbrega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jano Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Baltazar Nóbrega took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Toscano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elano Peres charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Betania supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Clube de Regatas do Flame's performance.
