CORINTHIANS's Ronaldo Barral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save CORINTHIANS from getting a goal against them. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Ronaldo Barral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. CORINTHIANS's Wilson Veiga got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute Evandro Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernando de Castro to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes CORINTHIANS got a freekick which was hit by Urtsín Dumont. Ronaldo Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilvan Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Wilson Veiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Rodriguinho Amorim made a huge save. A collision led to CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Pedrão Berger hit a great ball. CORINTHIANS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernando de Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-1.
