Gomão EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 17 minutes into the match, Paulino Sacristán had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nelson Furtado. Gomão EC's Nelson Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Sacristán in the 25th minute of play. A collision led to Gomão EC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Tadeu Donatello hit a great ball. Baltazar da Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Faustão Romero made a huge save. 36 minutes into the match, Paulino Sacristán notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Gomão EC's Nelson Furtado. Nelson Furtado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 40th minute Francisco Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Furtado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Gomão EC's Tadeu Donatello sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Faustão Romero narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nelson Furtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Silva in the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulino Sacristán stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Paulino Sacristán shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Furtado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 52 played minutes Gomão EC got a freekick which was hit by Moisés Meira. Gomão EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Paulino Sacristán scored to the left of an out of position Nelson Furtado, making the score, 0-7. Nelson Furtado was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Vítor da Silva capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vítor da Silva really showed his touch with that goal: 0-8. Nelson Furtado came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo FC's Vítor da Silva. But to his dismay, Vítor da Silva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-9. 69 minutes into the match, Paulino Sacristán dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nelson Furtado, 0-10. Paulino Sacristán scored 0-11 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nelson Furtado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 90th minute, Paulino Sacristán ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nelson Furtado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-12. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Tadeu Donatello put it in 1-12 from a short distance just to the right of Faustão Romero.
