Gilvan Félix made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With his leg Gilvan Félix managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when RiverFolia's Eugênio Romero fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. César Veiga's late challenge caught a RiverFolia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. César Veiga helped the player get up and apologised. César Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Guadala's Rubinho Antunes got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute, Caio de Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Eugênio Romero put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gilvan Félix. Eugênio Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 34 minutes, Rubinho Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guadala's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubinho Antunes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gilvan Félix stood somewhat misplaced when Eugênio Romero came free in front of goal and shot 4-0 to the left of him in the 36 minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelinho Massa in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilvan Félix saved Guadala from getting behind. Rubinho Antunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oliver Bierhoff read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 49th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

If Eugênio Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugênio Romero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilvan Félix read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Eugênio Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Gilvan Félix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 63 minutes into the game, when Geraldo Oliveira put in a rough tackle. In the 62nd minute, one of RiverFolia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for RiverFolia. When the match had been going on for 65 minutes, Guadala's Elói da Mata got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Oliver Bierhoff. The RiverFolia fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when RiverFolia's Marcelinho Massa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Guadala defense, Luís Gustavo Cardoso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilvan Félix. The Guadala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilvan Félix should have stopped the shot. 77 minutes into the match, Guadala's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelinho Massa came free, but Gilvan Félix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcelinho Massa in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Félix prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clóvis Castro's late challenge caught a RiverFolia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clóvis Castro helped the player get up and apologised. Clóvis Castro hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute Marcelinho Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilvan Félix saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilvan Félix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelinho Massa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Duda de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Guadala booed when RiverFolia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Gustavo Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elói da Mata's shot from long distance in the 93rd minute was not bad at all, but RiverFolia's Oliver Bierhoff knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Guadala's zone, Marcelinho Massa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilvan Félix came out of the goal and Marcelinho Massa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 98 minutes, Marcelinho Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RiverFolia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho Massa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. RiverFolia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
