In the 8th minute, Duda de Castro made a precise shot to the right of Zé Paulo Esteves. Vasco da Gama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubinho Antunes in the 10th minute of play forced Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Vasco da Gama's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Montenegro came free, but Zé Paulo Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Duda de Castro made the kick off in the second half. Duda de Castro scored 0-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Paulo Esteves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Duda de Castro got free with Zé Paulo Esteves in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 58thth minute of the game Wiliam Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guadala's Gilvan Félix was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Duda de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Zé Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Guadala's Clóvis Castro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Zé Paulo Esteves made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Duda de Castro sent off a good shot on target. 72 minutes into the match, Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Esteves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duda de Castro. Wiliam Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Félix having to interfere. 81 minutes into the match, Duda de Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Paulo Esteves. Vasco da Gama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Duda de Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. 88 minutes into the game, Duda de Castro lined in a short shot 0-6 behind a frustrated Zé Paulo Esteves. Zé Paulo Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Roberto Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Andrézinho Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. With a little luck, Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves got control of the ball when Duda de Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Guadala played a much better game than Vasco da Gama and deserved their victory. The Vasco da Gama players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
