After 6 minutes, Hortêncio Eger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vendramini Team and the RiverFolia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th match minute, Vendramini Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hortêncio Eger to maneuver through the defense. The RiverFolia fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when RiverFolia's Marcelinho Massa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 16th match minute, Vendramini Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roger Baptista to maneuver through the defense. Marcelinho Massa who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of João Carlos Motta when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Juninho Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Bierhoff having to interfere. Luiz Fábio França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vendramini Team's João Carlos Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelinho Massa in the 28th minute of play. With an all-out effort, RiverFolia's João Carlos Motta threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Marcelinho Massa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Marcelinho Massa was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. RiverFolia's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Eugênio Romero struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. João Carlos Motta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RiverFolia. The crowd rose to their feet as RiverFolia's Marcelinho Massa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of João Carlos Motta. That made the score 2-0 after 36 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcelinho Massa in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Carlos Motta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 44th minute, one of Vendramini Team:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vendramini Team. João Carlos Motta had in the 46thth minute some difficulties stopping Dino de Sousa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Luiz Fábio França made the kick off in the second half. When Juninho Barreto fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vendramini Team's protests and gave Juninho Barreto a yellow card for diving instead. Juninho Barreto hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Juninho Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Oliver Bierhoff made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Marcelinho Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot. RiverFolia's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelinho Massa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Carlos Motta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Carlos Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelinho Massa, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Oliver Bierhoff made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Juninho Barreto sent off a good shot on target. In the 79th minute Marcelinho Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Eugênio Romero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 88 in the game by Juninho Barreto from a close distance when the talented Oliver Bierhoff managed to make a qualified save. RiverFolia's players were relieved. Oliver Bierhoff didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luiz Fábio França went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelinho Massa in the 96th minute of play forced Vendramini Team's goalkeeper João Carlos Motta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. RiverFolia fully deserved thier win.
