The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jardel Sarmento during the 2nd minute. In the 13th minute Jardel Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Queirós made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Evaristo Cunha sent off a good shot on target. Evaristo Cunha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Luís Queirós skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 19th match minute, Charqueada EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emílio Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. Bruno Soares hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. If Anselmo Munhoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rubens Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaká Paraibano in the 33rd minute of the match. Luís Queirós made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Evaristo Cunha sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Hammonia getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Anselmo Munhoz hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Charqueada EC's zone, Kaká Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubens Neves came out of the goal and Kaká Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Kaká Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jardel Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hammonia's Jardel Sarmento got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emílio Mendonça to make the kick off. The supporters of Charqueada EC booed when Hammonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jardel Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaká Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Rubens Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Evaristo Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charqueada EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evaristo Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tadeu Abraão hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. After having played for 65 minutes, Evaristo Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charqueada EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evaristo Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Hammonia defense, Emílio Mendonça kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Queirós. The Hammonia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Queirós should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Hammonia's Jardel Sarmento got a free kick in the 69th minute. Luís Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio Mendonça in the 70th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Hammonia's Rubens Neves threw himself towards the right post 71 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kaká Paraibano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 79th minute, Evaristo Cunha made a precise shot to the right of Luís Queirós. Hammonia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After a rather tough play, Hammonia's Anselmo Munhoz got a free kick in the 89th minute. Evaristo Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Luís Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Evaristo Cunha scored 3-0 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Queirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee blew the final whistle, Charqueada EC could leave the field as winners, despite Hammonia having more of the ball for most of the match.
