The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kaká Paraibano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Maria Nunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaká Paraibano in the 6th minute of the match. José Maria Nunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaká Paraibano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 11 played minutes Hammonia got a freekick which was hit by Tadeu Abraão. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Claudinho Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jaraguary AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinho Gerber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Jaraguary AD booed when Hammonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tadeu Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nando Moreira came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Jaraguary AD fans jumped to their feet. Hammonia's Kaká Paraibano got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Hammonia fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Hammonia's Kaká Paraibano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Jaraguary AD's Jeferson Severo got a free kick in the 35th minute. José Maria Nunes came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Hammonia's Kaká Paraibano. But to his dismay, Kaká Paraibano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 51 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Jardel Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Paraibano in the 95th minute of play forced Jaraguary AD's goalkeeper José Maria Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tadeu Abraão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Maria Nunes having to interfere. In the 98th match minute, Hammonia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armandinho Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Hammonia played a much better game than Jaraguary AD and deserved their victory. The Jaraguary AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
