After having played for 32 minutes, João Augusto Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Granja SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Augusto Travassos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Hammonia booed when Granja SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Augusto Travassos to make the kick off. Hammonia's Luís Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Hammonia from getting a goal against them.
