In the 8th match minute, Salinada AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fernando da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Acarahu EC's Dito Ferraz got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dito Ferraz took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luiz Paulo Cardozo. Luiz Paulo Cardozo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Chicão Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hélio Damião fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Acarahu EC's protests and gave Hélio Damião a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th match minute, Acarahu EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélio Damião to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes Salinada AD got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Melo. Luiz Paulo Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélio Damião in the 28th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dito Ferraz in the 29th minute of play forced Salinada AD's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Cardozo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando da Silveira in the 30th minute of play forced Acarahu EC's goalkeeper Dênis Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Melo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dênis Prestes having to make a save. The supporters of Acarahu EC booed when Salinada AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Pontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Paulo Cardozo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dito Ferraz went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Chicão Eger to strike the kick off in the second half. Luiz Paulo Cardozo was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Dito Ferraz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dito Ferraz really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Dênis Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chicão Eger in the 55th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Fernando da Silveira in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dênis Prestes saved Acarahu EC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Melo in the 58th minute of play forced Acarahu EC's goalkeeper Dênis Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 59 minutes, Edinho Ferraz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Acarahu EC and the Salinada AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edinho Ferraz hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 60th minute of the match Luiz Fernando da Silveira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dênis Prestes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Hélio Damião was shown his second yellow card after 60 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Acarahu EC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Hélio Damião hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the game, Salinada AD's Luiz Fernando da Silveira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dênis Prestes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. A collision led to Salinada AD getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Hélder Pontes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio Quirino in the 71st minute of play forced Salinada AD's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Cardozo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fernando da Silveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dênis Prestes was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. 75 minutes into the game, Vladimir Barbosa threw the ball into play from the sideline. Acarahu EC's Caetano Paranaense quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Chicão Eger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Dênis Prestes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Luiz Fernando da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Acarahu EC's Dênis Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fernando da Silveira in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Gilmar de Godoi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Acarahu EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. When Silvinho Baiano came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Salinada AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvinho Baiano couldn't finish the play. Acarahu EC played a much better game than Salinada AD and deserved their victory. The Salinada AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
