Spectators: 7488 (Terracing: 5617, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Chicão Eger took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, Karavela's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Melo came free, but Denílson Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Denílson Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 7 minutes, Jorge Melo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salinada AD and the Karavela players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Karavela booed when Salinada AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 played minutes Karavela got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Tavares. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guto Rosado got free with Luiz Paulo Cardozo in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 21 minutes, Luiz Paulo Cardozo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 23rd minute, Karavela's Guto Rosado dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 29th minute, Karavela's Luís Domingues seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Luís Domingues the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Karavela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Luís Domingues had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 28 minutes into the game, one of Karavela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 30th minute there was a penalty for Salinada AD. Luiz Fernando da Silveira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Denílson Catarinense. 1-1. If Luiz Fernando da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denílson Catarinense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorge Melo went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Luiz Fernando da Silveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Salinada AD getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Vladimir Barbosa hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Mattos to make the kick off. Jorge Melo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Denílson Catarinense having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Luiz Fernando da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salinada AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fernando da Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denílson Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 55 minutes into the match, Karavela's goalkeeper Denílson Catarinense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Fernando da Silveira. The supporters of Salinada AD booed when Karavela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruy Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the game, Jorge Melo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Denílson Catarinense. Jorge Melo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Denílson Catarinense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chicão Eger in the 67th minute. Jorge Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denílson Catarinense having to interfere. In the 69th match minute, Salinada AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fernando da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the game, Karavela's Enrique Mattos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Paulo Cardozo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Tavares in the 76th minute of play forced Salinada AD's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Cardozo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chicão Eger came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Denílson Catarinense could save by the left post. In the 81st match minute, Karavela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruy Quirino to maneuver through the defense. Chicão Eger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Denílson Catarinense made a huge save. Denílson Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando da Silveira in the 84th minute of play. Karavela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when Jorge Melo scored to the left of an out of position Denílson Catarinense, making the score, 2-4. Denílson Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvinho Baiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
