In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cabo Frio's goalkeeper Jeferson Gaúcho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Gressa FC defense, Evaristo Félix kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zeca Pitta. The Gressa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zeca Pitta should have stopped the shot. Jeferson Gaúcho was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jonas da Mata showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 20 minute of play. Jeferson Gaúcho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dênis Cerezo in the 23rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Andrés Moro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gressa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Andrés Moro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeferson Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute, Frédson Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Russ Bull put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Zeca Pitta. Andrés Moro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Cabo Frio getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Frédson Leite hit a great ball. Andrés Moro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeferson Gaúcho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The Gressa FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cabo Frio were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andrés Moro to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrés Moro in the 75th minute of play forced Cabo Frio's goalkeeper Jeferson Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the game, Andrés Moro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Jeferson Gaúcho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 82 minutes into the game, Gressa FC's Andrés Moro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeferson Gaúcho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. Jeferson Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zula Siekierski, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. When Russ Bull came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Cabo Frio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Russ Bull couldn't finish the play. 91 minutes into the match, Gressa FC's Andrés Moro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jeferson Gaúcho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 92nd match minute, Gressa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonas da Mata to maneuver through the defense. Cabo Frio's Evaristo Félix got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gressa FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
