Sporting Colegio RJ's Luciano Mineiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Colegio RJ from getting a goal against them. After having played for 10 minutes, Bernardinho de Toledo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Floresta EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardinho de Toledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Floresta EC's Pedrinho Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Wilson Figueiredo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Wágner Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. The supporters of Sporting Colegio RJ booed when Floresta EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardinho de Toledo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Sporting Colegio RJ's goal looked a bit too open when João Carlos Hoffmann came free, but Luciano Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thomás Freitas scored 1-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ball Bender, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 27 minutes into the match, Sporting Colegio RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Figueiredo came free, but Luciano Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardinho de Toledo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Luciano Mineiro made a huge save. With a little luck, Sporting Colegio RJ's Luciano Mineiro got control of the ball when Bernardinho de Toledo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sporting Colegio RJ's Jacinto Fernandez managed to work through Floresta EC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Jacinto Fernandez dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. João Carlos Hoffmann hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. If João Carlos Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luciano Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Figueiredo in the 48th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Jacinto Fernandez made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Hélder Matorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting Colegio RJ's Luciano Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Cabral in the 56th minute of play. If Wilson Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. João Carlos Hoffmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 79 played minutes Sporting Colegio RJ got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Mineiro. After 80 played minutes Jardel de Alcântara shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for Sporting Colegio RJ's Luciano Mineiro to catch but Jardel de Alcântara was lucky. It became 4-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal.
