But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Negri couldn't finish the play. Basílio Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Luciano Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antônio Carlos Catarinense hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 16th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Wágner Perez hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. Luciano Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Madureira in the 17th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacinto Fernandez got free with Cauan Lima in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sílvio Sá took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luciano Mineiro. Luciano Mineiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Thomás Freitas might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cauan Lima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thomás Freitas ran back to his position shaking his head. Luciano Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio Cunha in the 26th minute of play. 28 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Cunha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Colegio RJ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave União Independente the free kick. In the 27th minute, one of Sporting Colegio RJ:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sporting Colegio RJ. Jacinto Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sydney Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Antônio Carlos Catarinense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Sporting Colegio RJ defense, Sydney Madureira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luciano Mineiro. The Sporting Colegio RJ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luciano Mineiro should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Cunha in the 44th minute of play forced Sporting Colegio RJ's goalkeeper Luciano Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the match, Sporting Colegio RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Basílio Cunha came free, but Luciano Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Sporting Colegio RJ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. União Independente were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacinto Fernandez to make the kick off. Elivélton Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Luciano Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sporting Colegio RJ's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Manuel Negri 90 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-6. Sydney Madureira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Luciano Mineiro made a huge save. After 96 played minutes União Independente got a freekick which was hit by Wágner Perez. Cauan Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Couto in the 97th minute of play. União Independente played a much better game than Sporting Colegio RJ and deserved their victory. The Sporting Colegio RJ players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
