The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Abelardo da Silva during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 4th match minute, Sporting Colegio RJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo da Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th minute, Carlos Eduardo Silveira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luciano Mineiro. The goal made the score 1-0. Luciano Mineiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nando Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. It was beautiful to see Sporting Colegio RJ's Adhemar Couto in action when he in the 25th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Eduardo Silveira got free with Luciano Mineiro in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mathias Lara made a kick off. Hélder Matorin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 57 minutes into the match. The supporters of Coitezeiro booed when Sporting Colegio RJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Carlos Catarinense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Cunha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luciano Mineiro. Sporting Colegio RJ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Carlos Eduardo Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chiquinho de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Mineiro having to interfere. Luciano Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Eduardo Silveira in the 75th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Thomás Freitas took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Matheus Gomes to make any attempt to save it. Jacinto Fernandez who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Matheus Gomes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Sporting Colegio RJ's Thomás Freitas in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Coitezeiro's goalie prevented a goal. Jacinto Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Matheus Gomes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Chiquinho de Almeida made a precise shot to the right of Luciano Mineiro. Sporting Colegio RJ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. If Nando Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Coitezeiro players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
