The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Osvaldinho Paraense was out of position in the 3 minute of play, and Wilson Figueiredo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Wilson Figueiredo really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 8 minutes into the game, José Nunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Floresta EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paulino the free kick. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Bernardinho de Toledo took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Osvaldinho Paraense to make any attempt to save it. 16 minutes into the match, Paulino's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Figueiredo came free, but Osvaldinho Paraense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardinho de Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Osvaldinho Paraense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Figueiredo in the 18th minute of play forced Paulino's goalkeeper Osvaldinho Paraense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osvaldinho Paraense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Figueiredo in the 21st minute of play. Bernardinho de Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Osvaldinho Paraense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bernardinho de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Floresta EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardinho de Toledo couldn't finish the play. After 28 played minutes Paulino got a freekick which was hit by José Carlos Rocha. After a defensive mix-up in Paulino's zone, Jardel de Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldinho Paraense came out of the goal and Jardel de Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ball Bender showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgílio Rosado in the 32nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernardinho de Toledo got free with Osvaldinho Paraense in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Osvaldinho Paraense successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.

Wilson Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Remo Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Floresta EC's Ball Bender played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Rosado in the 60th minute of play. João Carlos Hoffmann hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. After 68 minutes, Remo Paraibano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paulino and the Floresta EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Paulino getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Remo Paraibano hit a great ball. Pedrinho Cabral charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedrinho Cabral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Figueiredo in the 73rd minute of play forced Paulino's goalkeeper Osvaldinho Paraense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Paulino's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardinho de Toledo came free, but Osvaldinho Paraense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute, Wilson Figueiredo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Floresta EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 6-0 became the score in the 88th minute when Bernardinho de Toledo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Bernardinho de Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldinho Paraense having to interfere.
