In the 36th minute Silvério de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovanni de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute, EC Boca do Rio's Cristóvão Fernandes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Geovanni de Lara. Geovanni de Lara yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. With a little luck, Atlético Fluminense's Geovanni de Lara got control of the ball when Orlando Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Atlético Fluminense getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. João Pedro Macedo hit a great ball. In the 72nd minute, Atlético Fluminense's Jean Alagoano seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jean Alagoano the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Atlético Fluminense protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jean Alagoano had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 71st minute, one of Atlético Fluminense:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atlético Fluminense. The referee gave EC Boca do Rio a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. EC Boca do Rio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Fluminense the free kick. When the final whistle sounded EC Boca do Rio left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Atlético Fluminense.
