Pedrinho Nascimento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edson Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pedrinho Nascimento in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edson Maciel saved ABC RN from getting behind. José Maria Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Maria Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 9th match minute, ABC RN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Maria Rocha to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to ABC RN getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Marcelinho França hit a great ball. In the 16th minute, ABC RN's José Maria Rocha ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Enio Falcão. Enio Falcão yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 23 minutes, Álvaro Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ABC RN and the Regina FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. ABC RN's Edson Maciel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Nascimento in the 25th minute of play. Edson Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edson Maciel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Nascimento in the 28th minute of play. Luiz Guilherme Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedrinho Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Álvaro Fonseca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute of the match, Pedrinho Nascimento tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edson Maciel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 57 minutes, Inácio Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Regina FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inácio Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in ABC RN fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 75th minute. Penalty! In the 76th minute there was a penalty for Regina FC. Álvaro Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th match minute, Regina FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateus Vieira to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Maria Rocha in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enio Falcão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With his leg Edson Maciel managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Regina FC's Wiliam Guimarães fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
