Valdemar do Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Elói Favoretto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edson Castro made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Denílson Faria sent off a good shot on target. Márcio Sanches hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Buba & Gump F.C.'s zone, Denílson Faria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edson Castro came out of the goal and Denílson Faria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute, Detonautas FC Return's Vicente Oliveira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Edson Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vicente Oliveira in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of Detonautas FC Return booed when Buba & Gump F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reginaldo Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edson Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edinho Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Detonautas FC Return's Marco Pernambucano got a free kick in the 26th minute. After 27 played minutes, Buba & Gump F.C.'s Reginaldo Diniz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elói Favoretto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Buba & Gump F.C. reached it. Cléberson Esteves hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After having played for 29 minutes, Erik Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buba & Gump F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Toscano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34th minute Vicente Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edson Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elói Favoretto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edson Castro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vicente Oliveira in the 38th minute. Valdemar do Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdemar do Vale was the one to do the kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Percival Dracena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Detonautas FC Return's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Buba & Gump F.C. the free kick. A collision led to Detonautas FC Return getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Percival Dracena hit a great ball. The supporters of Detonautas FC Return booed when Buba & Gump F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute, Denílson Faria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edson Castro was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Detonautas FC Return's Elói Favoretto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Detonautas FC Return from getting a goal against them. In the 71st match minute, Detonautas FC Return was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute, Valdemar do Vale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elói Favoretto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Oliveira in the 80th minute of play forced Buba & Gump F.C.'s goalkeeper Edson Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aníbal Damião charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aníbal Damião the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Buba & Gump F.C. getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Aníbal Damião hit a great ball. Cléberson Esteves, 86 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When Valdemar do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Buba & Gump F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdemar do Vale couldn't finish the play.
