Jordy Argaez might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernani Abraão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jordy Argaez ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Auriceleste Wolfs's zone, Jordy Argaez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernani Abraão came out of the goal and Jordy Argaez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jordy Argaez came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the São Paulo Paulistano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jordy Argaez couldn't finish the play. Ernani Abraão made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Ulysses Machado sent off a good shot on target. Jordy Argaez struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Ernani Abraão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Paulo Paulistano. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. São Paulo Paulistano had played much better football throughout.
