Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Fabinho de Mendonça got the match started through his kick off. When Márcio Figueiredo came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Guarulhos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Márcio Figueiredo couldn't finish the play. In the 13th minute, Márcio Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabinho de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Geovani da Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Márcio Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovani da Silveira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabinho de Mendonça's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Fabinho de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovani da Silveira having to interfere. If Wilton de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fausto de Sousa struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Toninho de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caturai. Toninho de Salles acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 39th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Oséias Pirani. After a defensive mix-up in Caturai's zone, Jarbas Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovani da Silveira came out of the goal and Jarbas Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 44 minutes of play, Guarulhos's Fabinho de Mendonça made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Geovani da Silveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Fabinho de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilton de Andrade made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Fabinho de Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caturai's Geovani da Silveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 53rd match minute, Caturai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilton de Andrade to maneuver through the defense. Jarbas Alcântara let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 55th minute shot 0-2 at rihgt post. Márcio Figueiredo was shown his second yellow card after 58 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Geovani da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th match minute, Guarulhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Alves to maneuver through the defense. Fabinho de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner ended in Pedro Paulo Proença almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Caturai's Geovani da Silveira did a great save. 79 minutes in the game, Fabinho de Mendonça fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Geovani da Silveira having to interfere. Fausto de Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toninho de Salles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. When Fabiano Rezende fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caturai's protests and gave Fabiano Rezende a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Guarulhos booed when Caturai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Wilton de Andrade notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Guarulhos's Toninho de Salles. Toninho de Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Guarulhos players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
