Raí de Medeiros charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raí de Medeiros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Romário Urbano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th minute, Romário Urbano made a precise shot to the right of Murilo Andrade. Elite Guarulhos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. When Osmar Dias fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Elite Guarulhos FC's protests and gave Osmar Dias a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Elite Guarulhos FC's Osmar Dias got a free kick in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Elite Guarulhos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Doni Mendes came free, but Murilo Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Magno Zanette received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Arí Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Elite Guarulhos FC's zone, Romário Urbano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murilo Andrade came out of the goal and Romário Urbano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The A. A. Ponte Preta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Elite Guarulhos FC were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doni Mendes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doni Mendes in the 52nd minute of play forced Elite Guarulhos FC's goalkeeper Murilo Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ponte Preta booed when Elite Guarulhos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edson Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Guilherme Perez was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 77th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Doni Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, A. A. Ponte Preta's goalkeeper Arí Motta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Délio Aparecido. A. A. Ponte Preta's Arí Motta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save A. A. Ponte Preta from getting a goal against them. If Délio Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 94 played minutes A. A. Ponte Preta got a freekick which was hit by Doni Mendes. When the final whistle went the supporters of Elite Guarulhos FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant A. A. Ponte Preta side.
