Léo Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir Brodel in the 13th minute of play. Hugo Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Doriva Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boleslaw Gamza struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Doriva Paranaense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inhumas EC. In the 18th minute, Sport Recife's Miguel Mendonça ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Léo Mesquita. Léo Mesquita yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Doriva Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Fernandes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inhumas EC's Léo Mesquita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Inhumas EC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flávio Paraense got free with Léo Mesquita in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Boleslaw Gamza hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Hugo Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Recife's zone, Luís Fernando Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doriva Paranaense came out of the goal and Luís Fernando Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Hugo Fernandes sped through Sport Recife's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Doriva Paranaense. With a little luck, Inhumas EC's Léo Mesquita got control of the ball when Flávio Paraense tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luís Fernando Arantes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doriva Paranaense having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Recife's zone, Boleslaw Gamza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doriva Paranaense came out of the goal and Boleslaw Gamza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Hugo Fernandes made the kick off in the second half. If Boleslaw Gamza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Inhumas EC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Carlos Augusto Lara hit a great ball. Léo Mesquita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Evandro Lucas went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Valdir Brodel's late challenge caught a Inhumas EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdir Brodel helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sport Recife's Valdir Brodel got a free kick in the 62nd minute. 65 minutes into the game, Sport Recife's Evandro Lucas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Léo Mesquita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. When Miguel Mendonça fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Recife's protests and gave Miguel Mendonça a yellow card for diving instead. Miguel Mendonça hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Inhumas EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
