Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Marimbas's Josué Garcia started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Marimbas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Túlio Prata to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 3 minutes, Sandro Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Operário Laranjeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandro Cabral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 6th minute, Marimbas's Josué Garcia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hudson Bastos. Hudson Bastos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Antônio Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Josué Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hudson Bastos having to interfere. Antônio Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Pontes having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Marimbas's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Sousa came free, but Zé Roberto Pontes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 22 minutes, Walmyr Paiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Marimbas and the Operário Laranjeiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Marimbas's zone, Antônio Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Roberto Pontes came out of the goal and Antônio Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Walmyr Paiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Hudson Bastos made a huge save. Kaká Sabóia hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Marimbas's Zé Roberto Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Sousa in the 38th minute of play. Antônio Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sandro Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Antônio Sousa put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Zé Roberto Pontes. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandro Cabral in the 63rd minute of play forced Marimbas's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Pontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edu Martins hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. After having played for 78 minutes, Walmyr Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Walmyr Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Hudson Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
