If Joaquim Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nazaro's Robinho Rodrigues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lauro Guimarães in the 7th minute of play. Paulo José Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Oséias Alves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lambari's Reginaldo Sergipano got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Gilson de Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nazaro's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilson de Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Douglas Tasso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
