Villas Matilde's supporters rose to their feet, but Mei Jing was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos Perez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 15 minutes into the match, Villas Matilde's Rodolfo Barbosa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlinhos Perez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match clock showed 37 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Petre Spânu sped through Ypiranga SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carlinhos Perez.
