After 21 minutes of play, Manhuacu's João Augusto Neiva made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cacá Albuquerque was left in no man's land by his defense there! 27 minutes into the match, Manhuacu's goal looked a bit too open when Jardel Montenegro came free, but Bebeto Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manhuacu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diguinho Moreira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The wind increased when Jardel Montenegro made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Gremio PortoAlegrense JA booed when Manhuacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 63 played minutes, Gremio PortoAlegrense JA's João Adolfo Mota shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bebeto Capixaba came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gremio PortoAlegrense JA reached it. Belmiro Bueno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cacá Albuquerque having to interfere.
