José Damião made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magno Pinheiro in the 14th minute of play. In the 21st minute Magno Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magno Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. José Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís de Queiroz in the 24th minute of play forced Sport Club Academy's goalkeeper José Damião to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Damião made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamim Varela in the 29th minute of play. Israel Segundo was slow to take the kick. During this time Nova Descoberta - RN's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Israel Segundo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this José Damião quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sport Club Academy's José Damião played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís de Queiroz in the 36th minute of play. In the 44th minute of the match, Gilmar Abraão got a very nice opportunity to score, but Agostinho Mendonça was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Magno Pinheiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored Sport Club Academy's protests and gave Anselmo de Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Sport Club Academy's Anselmo de Azevedo got a free kick in the 89th minute. If Gonzalo Fidensio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. Sport Club Academy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nova Descoberta - RN the free kick. Tales Meira kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Many of Nova Descoberta - RN's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Nova Descoberta - RN may have spent more time on the ball, but Sport Club Academy were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
