After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Raí Prestes got a free kick in the 4th minute. Marcelo Gröhe made an important save on a dangerous shot by André Luís de Queiroz in the 10th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Nova Descoberta - RN's goal looked a bit too open when Raí Prestes came free, but Agostinho Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Magno Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Gröhe having to interfere. When Independente FC's Raí Prestes in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Agostinho Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Duarte in the 22nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Raí Prestes put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Agostinho Mendonça. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís de Queiroz in the 26th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Gröhe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Nova Descoberta - RN's André Luís de Queiroz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcelo Gröhe. Marcelo Gröhe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 29thth minute of the game Geraldo Cruz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independente FC's Marcelo Gröhe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 31st minute, Cristian Baiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. André Luís de Queiroz succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 33rd playminute. In the 36th minute, Raí Prestes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th minute, André Luís de Queiroz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nova Descoberta - RN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 41st minute, Nilson Duarte made a precise shot to the right of Agostinho Mendonça. Nova Descoberta - RN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. With a little luck, Independente FC's Marcelo Gröhe got control of the ball when Magno Pinheiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Agostinho Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raí Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Magno Pinheiro made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raí Prestes in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agostinho Mendonça saved Nova Descoberta - RN from getting behind. 53 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamim Varela came free, but Marcelo Gröhe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raí Prestes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, André Luís de Queiroz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nova Descoberta - RN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. In the 59th minute, Christiano Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Raí Prestes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Agostinho Mendonça having to make a save. 62 minutes into the match, Nova Descoberta - RN's goalkeeper Agostinho Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raí Prestes. Marcelo Gröhe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luís de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After having played for 67 minutes, Raí Prestes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raí Prestes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 70 minutes, Nilson Duarte mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independente FC and the Nova Descoberta - RN players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 70 played minutes Independente FC got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Duarte. In the 75th minute Independente FC were awarded a corner. Nilson Duarte went to the cornerflag to take it. 78 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamim Varela came free, but Marcelo Gröhe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 79 minutes, Raí Prestes made it 4-3 with a short kick to the right side. Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 82nd minute, Raí Prestes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independente FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-4. Independente FC were furious when Edinho Secco was red carded, 93 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Edinho Secco got a free kick in the 94th minute. After having played for 95 minutes, Magno Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nova Descoberta - RN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Magno Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Cristian Baiano got a free kick in the 96th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
